Under New Management

Minnesota Baptist AssociationAfter a couple of weeks of planning and effort, the new look and direction of the Minnesota Baptist Association website is becoming more apparent. Among the new additions:

  • A New Web Editor. The officers of the MBA wanted a little more control in day-to-day operations of the site. Because of previous internet experience, Pastor Greg Linscott of Marshall (thats me!) was approached to oversee the process. Working closely with Pastor Dave Rogers, the MBA Secretary, and with input from Pastor Bob Fuller, Jr. who oversees the North Star Update, we are hoping to get a presence that will keep the churches of the Association updated on the happenings in the association, as well as helping it become a more effective tool for edification, encouragement, and overall enhanced communication. If you have suggestions or comments about the progress, please don’t hesitate to share them with me by email- – or through Facebook.
  • A New Logo. Our new logo represents the work of Micah Ellis of ME Studios. In addition to his work as an accomplished graphic designer, Micah oversees youth ministry at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Camden, Maine. Micah provided the work at a significant discount to what he regularly charges clients, for which we are profoundly grateful. Micah based the logo in part on the pre-existing “star over state” emblem used in The North Star, reminding us of the heritage of our Association even as we forge ahead to new challenges in the future.
  • A New Web Host. Our site is hosted by Austin Matzko of Pressed Code. In addition to providing us with hosting services virtually at his own cost, Austin has provided a great deal of guidance to yours truly in setting up the site and getting it off the ground. Austin grew up on a Christian university campus, and currently resides in Tennesee as he completes a PhD in philosophy.

I hope you will continue to check back regularly for updates as the site takes shape. Please be patient as functions become available- some may be still being developed. We hope to give you quality content and ways to interact with us and each other better in the days that lie ahead.

Central, Faith Baptist Theological Seminaries Explore Merger Possibility

Central Baptist Theological SeminaryKevin Mungons reports in the Baptist Bulletin:

Faith Baptist Theological Seminary, Ankeny, Iowa, and Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Plymouth, Minnesota, have announced a possible merger of the two institutions, according to recent votes from both seminary boards.

The merger proposal calls for maintaining Central Seminary’s Master of Divinity program at the Minnesota campus shared with the historic Fourth Baptist Church, while moving postgraduate programs to the Ankeny campus.

The Christian life is not intended solely as an individual experience. Our standing with God is secured through His Son, Jesus Christ. Our renewal and transformation in Jesus is most clearly realized and observable in our relationships with fellow saints in the context of local churches. The 2010 Men’s Fellowship of the Minnesota Baptist Association is designed to provide opportunities to strengthen relationships between the men of our local churches though recreational activities, Biblical instruction, and corporate worship. This year’s speakers will be speaking on three primary tools that God has provided for building and maintaining membership roles in the local church. We will hear instruction on baptism, church membership, and church discipline. A panel discussion will also be included as part of the proceedings. Please consider joining us as we equip ourselves with these “tools for the task!”
